Yusengi Peak

The route is almost entirely off-trail. Initially, the path follows the 'Tegenekli – Narzanov Meadow' eco-trail, from which a trail branches off into the Yusengi gorge. From there, the route turns east, and all further movement is across rugged terrain: tall grass, alpine meadows, streams, rocks, and scree.

The first off-trail section goes through thick grass and brush, after which the terrain transitions into an area with streams. Next is a southward traverse across alpine meadows, occasionally crossing streams and rocky patches. Then the main ascent begins: first up a steep grassy slope, and higher up, over rocks and scree, which eventually leads directly to the ridge. From the ridge, you face the easiest and most pleasant part of the journey straight to Yusengi Peak.

The ridge offers a 360-degree panorama. To the north are the Tegenekli ridge and Elbrus; to the northeast, the Baksan gorge is visible; to the southeast, the Adyl-Su gorge; to the west, Mount Donguzorun and Bolshoy Kogutay; and to the south, Shkhelda and Ushba.

For the descent, it is recommended to choose a path further south of the ascent route (this might also be the optimal ascent path depending on conditions). Important note: during the descent, it is highly recommended to bypass the brush and stream section by traversing the alpine meadows further north. I do not recommend descending directly through the thickets. I tried it.
