Azau Waterfall

Trail run to Azau Waterfall from Elbrus Village
A comfortable trail running route passing exclusively along the trails of the Baksan Gorge. The route features a gradual elevation gain and is logically divided into three sections:
- First: the 'Tegenekli – Narzanov Meadow' eco-trail, which includes crossing the Yusengi River via a small bridge.
- Second: the 'Narzanov Meadow – Cheget' eco-trail, which involves crossing the Donguzorun River over a bridge.
- Final: the 'Cheget turn-off – Azau Waterfall' eco-trail, crossing the Baksan River over another bridge.
The route runs along forest trails but still offers views of Tegeneklibashi, Bolshoy and Malyy Kogutay, and Cheget mountains.
A border permit is not required, as the route does not enter the border zone (which begins further up the gorge past the Azau waterfall).
Notes
- The route follows popular tourist trails.
- Do not cross the blue border zone warning sign located further up the gorge near Azau waterfall.
- The bridge crossing over the Baksan River is on the 'Cheget turn-off – Azau Waterfall' section.
- The total distance can be easily adapted by choosing a different starting point.
