Donguzorun-Kel Lake

Trail run to Donguzorun-Kel Lake along Prielbrusye paths
The trail follows paths exclusively and feels like a standard trail run.
The first part to Cheget Meadow is gentle, gaining 240 m over 7 km along the 'Tegenekli – Narzanov Meadow – Cheget' eco-trails by the Baksan River. Pay attention to the confluence of the Donguzorun and Baksan rivers—the Donguzorun River flows directly from Lake Donguzorun-Kel.
The second part is the climb from Cheget Meadow to Donguzorun-Kel Lake (3.6 km with 550 m elevation gain). The trail is dotted with streams and offers views of Big and Small Kogutay, Donguzorun, Nakratau, and Kahiani Peak.
After the lake, the trail continues to the Cheget weather station along steep mountain paths.
Notes
- The route follows popular tourist paths; starting early in the morning is recommended.
- Mineral springs (narzans) are available at Narzanov Meadow.
- The weather station offers panoramas of Elbrus, Peak Terskol Observatory, Donguzorun, and Nakratau.
