About the project Alpine Veins

Welcome to Alpine Veins! Here I share my passion for the mountains and years of experience in trail running and mountaineering. This project was created to provide you with detailed guides and route descriptions to help you plan safe and exciting adventures. Starting with the Elbrus region, but expanding beyond!

Alpine Veins is more than just route information. It offers battle-tested advice based on personal experience so you can confidently conquer mountain peaks. These guides help you consider all factors, from physical training and gear to mountain terrain features and unpredictable weather.

My goal is to teach you how to train safely, navigate in the mountains, and make informed decisions so you can enjoy every moment of your mountain experience.

Hi, I'm Dmitry, and I'm glad to welcome you to Alpine Veins!

My journey began in 2012 with a simple interest in running. Back then, even two kilometers were tough, but step by step I expanded my horizons. In 2015, rock climbing and mountaineering were added to running, opening up a whole new world for me. Then the Elbrus region, Lavaredo, Chamonix — these places became my school, and the local climbing gym and park near home became my second home.

What matters most to me is mindfulness, sustainability, and personal growth. I believe that mountaineering is all about self-reliance and awareness—where you prepare yourself, assess your own strength, and make well-thought-out decisions.

I have come a long way from being out of breath after a couple of kilometers to 50 km mountain races and independent single-day ascents. That exact experience and love for the mountains inspired me in 2025 to create Alpine Veins — a project aimed at sharing knowledge, inspiring new adventures, and helping others develop in harmony with the mountains.
